Feeling a Little Nosy Today?

Filed under: stupid, photography, WTF — admin @ 12:27

Well then, I have just the website for you. Like everyone else in the world, I get a moderate amount of interest while looking through other people’s personal items and being a bit nosy. No, I don’t go digging through purses or anything of the like but when you make a ‘find’ of something other than your own, it can be fun. I suggest you check out Found Magazine. It’s pretty cool. Go for the random ‘finds’ as they tend to be the best. Here are a few I screencapped this morning for your pleasure. Of course, as usual with small images, just click for the larger version.

Since I Figured It Out…

Filed under: video, moving — admin @ 18:40

Just a couple more random videos detailing the mess that is my dwelling.

No need to tell me I’m a dork–this is a given.

Bobblehead Video

I’m more or less just posting this to see if I’m linking to a video properly. Video goes with the previous blog.

Yes, that’s dust you see. I don’t do the white glove test in this crib. God, I am such a huge nerd.

In a Moment of Haste

Filed under: moving, Uncategorized — admin @ 17:20

I started boxing up some things in the apartment today. I decided that packing away books and non-essentials would be the easiest plus, it will make the living room look a bit tidier. For those that do not know me, I like collecting random chotchkes. My preferential chotchke is that of the bobblehead. They come cheap to accrue and they’re usually fun. Said collection was interspersed between books and other random little kitschy pieces on my bookshelves. While packing up box numero uno, I inadvertently dropped a book and it landed on my favorite bobblehead. Shit. I just so happened to break the face off a little Asian kid.

If you are faceless, you deserve some wine regardless inferior and cheap quality. Drink up Ming Lee, you are going in the trash.

T Minus 30 Days

Filed under: czech republic, europe, prague, photography, abroad, moving — admin @ 02:03

In one month the new chapter begins! Although I still have plenty of time, my apartment is still a mess. I’m usually prepared for stuff and hate doing last-minute cramming so hopefully I won’t be scrambling to get things done the last week of January. I’ll be departing the US on Feb. 5th, and after a nice 24-hour travel day, I’ll arrive around 9am local time following layovers in Detroit and Amsterdam. And before anyone asks–a) no, I won’t be hitting any Dutch hash bars and b) no, I’m not going to buy you any weed. Airlines and airport security don’t like you travelling with illegal substances. Come on, haven’t you seen Brokedown Palace?

Yes, this is the beautiful Prague Castle in Prague, Czech Republic. I kind of can’t believe I’m doing this; I’m moving to Europe. Holy shit. I’d always had the desire to live abroad.  While most do this kind of move right out of college, as the saying goes, ‘better late than never,’ right? People keep asking me why I’m doing this and my simple response is, ‘Why not?’ The only reasons I shouldn’t do this are out of personal fear and intimidation. Being a person who is usually neither, I’m taking a leap of faith and just DOING IT. I think Nike was right on that one. Of course, this blog will be updated often and now that Wordpress is my pal, frequent updates are super easy which is a convenient factor for someone who is acquiring a quasi-vagabond lifestyle. I am also bringing along two cameras therefore photos will accompany many blogs. My current freebie Flickr account only permits 200 images but if I pay for a subscription, I can upload mass quantities for everyone to see. Wordpress  allows one image upload at a time thus making bulk uploads time consuming. We’ll see about the Flickr thing though; it’s a bit premature to make a decision as I’m considering other photo site upload contenders. Ever seen SmugMug? Personalized user site design is a plus and some of the layouts look awesome. It’s tempting but I haven’t been able to navigate to a pricing sheet. They’re making it tricky on purpose! Either way, I’ll definitely be putting up lots of photos so stay tuned!

I Hate Stupid News Headlines

Filed under: stupid, news — admin @ 19:36

Speaking as someone who never took a journalism course, I’m fairly sure that the point of a headline is to provide a snippet of information regarding the article to follow. Most times, the headlines give accurate stats and other imperative information as to the content. Other times, article headlines (and sometimes the articles themselves) are just fucking stupid. I’m talking about the really obvious ones that, unless you are completely oblivious to the human condition, just read LAME, STUPID, and generally MORONIC. On that note, I give you this…

travolta headline

(click for larger)

I’m not trying to be a heartless bitch on this because it’s a really sad scenario for any family and I know they are devastated and inconsolable. But seriously, how ELSE are the parents expected to feel? Should it read, ‘Travolta & Preston Celebrate Tragic Death of Son with Trip to Disneyworld; Eat Hot Dogs and Enjoy Witch Mountain,’ instead? While this screencap is from CNN.com, they are not the only guilty party in this literary faux pas. In fact, I can’t think of any other organization that doesn’t publish similar articles. Another that comes to mind was a chyron blurb from a regular CNN broadcast. It read something like, ‘Obaba Affected by Absentee Father.’ Again, no shit. Since when does being abandoned by a parent not change the core of who one is? I realize that these types of news pieces are geared at emotion but the common-sense headlines are insulting for anyone who has more than a 3rd grade education.

It’s A Bit Scatological

Filed under: humor, books — admin @ 16:04

Before I get started on this blog I’ll mention there seems to be a Wordpress glitch I need to resolve. At first I thought it was maybe Safari but the same issue is occurring in Firefox as well. Each time I attempt to upload an image file, the browser gets killed. I’m asking The Google about this issue because I have some humorous uploads for this entry. Suffice it to say that the title should be enough for any curious readers provided said readers understand what the prefix scat means…. Until I can resolve this issue, no photo uploads and to that I say BOO!

Ok, update–got the kink worked out so here are a few pics.

The first is from my cell therefore the quality is shitty. The second pic is from Amazon because (of course) I asked The Google about the book and these are the suggested/paired readings. Just makes me laugh.
